Neo Geo CD was released four years after its cartridge-based equivalent and was the second console of the Neo Geo family. This console was notable for costing significantly less than the AES equivalent, for both the system and games. Unfortunately, the CD drive was very slow and therefore so were the load times. It was also unreliable, had trouble reading discs at times, and the disc drive often broke. The Neo Geo CD failed to sell well, mainly because of a lack of marketing, in addition to the introduction of more powerful game consoles capable of producing 3D graphics.
