Bally Astrocade

The Astrocade was originally released as the Bally Home Arcade, and it competed with the Atari 2600. In 1980, Bally sold the system to Atrovision, who then renamed the system Astrocade. It was a very powerful machine with specifications higher than most other systems available at the time. The console had two built in games: Gunfight and Checkmate. It also had a calculator and a program called Scribbling, which let users do basic sketches. Additional games were available in cartridge form. Although the Astrocade developed a cult following, it never had mainstream success.
