Accessibility and Inclusivity at The Nostalgia Box
Enjoying games and learning should be accessible to everyone, regardless of any physical or mental disability, a person’s sexual orientation, or age. The Nostalgia Box aims to make our museum the most inclusive place in the world.
Here is some information that can prepare you for your experience when visiting us.
FACILITIES
Accessible Lift
Due to the venue location, to access the front door you need to climb a set of 15 stairs. We have a lift for those who require it and it is operated by Nostalgia Box staff. When you book a ticket online there will be an option to tick should you require use of the lift. In the event the lift breaks we use this option to contact you directly. If you do not book online please feel free to call ahead the day before/of your visit just to ensure everything is operating. Any malfunctions we usually post to our social media stories
Accessible Toilets
Our gender neutral accessible toilets are located on the ground level at the bottom left of the stairs to the male/female toilets. The toilet has a hand rail on the left hand side. Both the accessible toilets and female toilets have women toiletries should you need them.
Space
The entire facility is designed to allow wheelchair users and those with mobility aids access. However please be aware that chairs for each table may cause an obstacle if not tucked in. Please advise our friendly staff should you need some assistance.
FEATURES
Braille/Tactile Tour
On all our exhibits there is braille for those with vision impairment. The braille states what the item is, the developer and the year of release. We can also offer a tactile tour for those with vision impairment but this does need to be booked ahead of schedule. Please contact The Nostalgia Box to inform if you would like this.
QR Codes
On each exhibit there is a QR code which will take you to a webpage which has the information on each piece.
Welcome Here Project
The Nostalgia Box is a proud member of the “Welcome Here Project”, an initiative to show LGBTQ+ diversity is welcomed and celebrated within this business. More information can be found on their website www.welcomehere.org.au

Height of exhibits
Some of the higher exhibits may be a little difficult to see for those seated. We have tried our hardest to limit this but should you not be able to see an item please just inform our staff who will be able to help you.
Height of tables
While the height of most of our tables should not cause any discomfort for your playing experience, should the screen be too high please inform our staff so we can relocate your console and game to a lower table.
