The Nostalgia Box
GENERAL ENTRY AND EVENT VISIT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The Nostalgia Box can be hired for private functions and events. On these days, the last available session for booking will be 1 hour before the function start time. All visitors will have to leave before the function begins. This means that if you have booked the last session of the day, your visit will have to be completed within 1 hour. In order to ensure you get the most out of your visit, please give us a call to see times when we are opening late or closing early for functions.
We recommend you allow 1 hour for your visit, however, the time you stay is not limited on a normal day where no private function is being held on the day.
A valid concession card must be produced to gain concession entry.
A valid Companion Card must be produced to allow free entry for a concession card holder’s companion
A paying adult must accompany children under the age of 10.
While in the Nostalgia Box venue you consent to images and videos being taken for security, promotional and/or social media purposes of yourself, attendees, your children or of the children for whom you are responsible.

Cancellations
If a booking is cancelled the full cost of the ticket will be forfeit
If the customer contacts the venue prior to the booking date/time with the intent to cancel, at the venue’s discretion it can offer either store credit, reschedule the booking, or offer a refund.
If the customer contacts the venue after the booked date/time, at the venue’s discretion it can offer either store credit or reschedule the booking.
The Nostalgia Box will always try to reschedule a booking or offer a store credit when visitors are unable to attend, but this is dependent on availability of experiences.
Damages:
It is understood that consoles, controllers, games, and memorabilia in the museum are old and can be delicate, and that care will be taken when handling all items.
Parents/Guardians are to supervise children under their care at all times. There will be no running in the museum; pulling, hitting, banging on any of the consoles and controllers are strictly prohibited.
Visitors are responsible for taking all reasonable precautions to protect the venue, equipment, exhibits or other property of The Nostalgia Box
The cost of accidental or negligent damage, deemed to be in excess of normal wear and tear, will be passed on to the visitor.
Any mess created by visitors in places such as the museum, gaming area or toilets deemed to be in excess of reasonable expectations will be the visitors responsibility and may incur a cleaning fee of up to $100
VENUE HIRE/INCURSION TERMS & CONDITIONS
1) Quotation:
● Full details of the type and numbers involved in the event must be disclosed at the time the quotation is made.
● The quotation is provided on the basis of this information; changes (whether advised or not) to this information may result in the quotation being revised.
● Quotations remain valid for 10 working days, unless otherwise specified in writing.
● Should the details of the event change, a new quote may be necessary.
2) Booking confirmation: Bookings are considered confirmed when the booking form, security deposit and security bond (as required) has been submitted by the hirer, and then only once The Nostalgia Box have provided the hirer with a confirmation of booking.
3) Deposit: All hirers are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of $100 within a week of submitting this booking form to secure the booking. The deposit acts as part payment on the total invoice amount and shall be subtracted from the total invoice. At The Nostalgia Box’s discretion the deposit may be waived, however a $100 cancellation fee will apply if the event is cancelled within a specified time period.
4) Payment: Venue hire balance shall be paid at the end of the event at the counter. (or for suppliers, can be invoiced afterwards)
5) Security Bond: The Nostalgia Box may request a security bond for some hires such as large events or parties. The security bond will be refunded in full provided there is no breach of the Conditions of Hire, there is no damage to the facility or equipment, and/or there is no extra cleaning required at the conclusion of the booking (of which the Staff on duty will be the sole judge)
6) Cancellation: Cancellations must be received in writing 7 days prior to the booking date. If cancellations are not received within 7 days the minimum charge as per your package will apply.
7) Program: The Nostalgia Box reserves the right to change programs at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard.
8) Running Times and surcharges: Should the event span of hours alter from that stated in the event quotation there may be additional charges for each half hour, or part thereof. Should excessive cleaning be needed outside of normal hire a cleaning surcharge will be applied.
9) Hirer’s Responsibilities: Loss and Damage
● The client is responsible for taking all reasonable precautions to protect the venue, equipment, exhibits or other property of The Nostalgia Box
● The cost of accidental or negligent damage, deemed to be in excess of normal wear and tear, is chargeable to the client.
● This applies to damage caused through their own action, action of their guests, contractors or subcontractors, before, during or after the event and is also includes cleaning cost.
● The Nostalgia Box staff will take all necessary care, but will not take responsibility for damage or loss of items of visitors before, during or after an event and the client must accept responsibility at all times.
● The Nostalgia Box reserves the right to terminate any event where it is satisfied that the continuation of that event will jeopardise the safety and security of property, staff, participants and guests and/or the reputation of The Nostalgia Box.
10) Food Catering:
• Food catering is sourced from other Restaurants. The restaurants that we engage make effort to identify ingredients that may cause allergic reactions for those individuals with food allergies. Because of the number of different meals served throughout each week and month at the respective restaurant, as well as the number of ingredients used each day, it cannot be guaranteed that every allergen in the food served will be identified and/or labelled. Consumers that are concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk.
• The Nostalgia Box also can provide in house catering, however while we can ensure the ingredients may be allergen free, The Nostalgia Box cannot guarantee regarding cross contamination, nor if the ingredients listed contain allergens not specified
• Final confirmation of number of attendees for a catering inclusive event will be done prior to your event. In the case of attendees on the actual day being significantly less than the confirmed number, catering cost will still be charged as per confirmed number. This will be roughly $15 per head.
11) Food and drinks consumptions: Food and drinks may only be consumed in the bar area or Chill Out Zone.
12) It is an offence to consume alcohol in public areas. Please refrain from consuming alcohol outside of The Nostalgia Box venue. The Nostalgia Box will not be held responsible for any individuals that commit this offence.
13) Smoking is prohibited inside the venue or within 3 metres of the entrance.
14) Behaviour: The Nostalgia Box reserves the right to prohibit entry of any person based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by staff and/or its agents and others working under its authority.
15) BYO: While Nostalgia Box allows BYO of alcohol for adult events it is understood patrons will monitor themselves. The Nostalgia Box applies an RSA policy to its events and should staff decide the patron is acting in a drunken fashion that patron will be cut off from further drinking. Any drinks bought by that patron will be stored behind the bar and returned at the end of the function or when the patron leaves.
16) Privacy Notice: The Nostalgia Box is concerned with the protection of your privacy. We support the privacy principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as amended. The Nostalgia Box collects and stores your personal information for the purposes of providing membership services, education and training programs.
17) While in the Nostalgia Box venue you consent to images and videos being taken for security, promotional and/or social media purposes of yourself, attendees, your children or of the children for whom you are responsible.
18) In the event that excessive cleaning is required after a function including but not limited to the bathroom, windows, carpet, tables or equipment, a fee of $100 per hour of cleaning may be applied.
19) COVID and Infectious Diseases Policy
In accordance with The Nostalgia Box’s duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of known hazards, we are adopting this policy to safeguard the health of our customers and visitors, our employees and the community at large from infectious diseases, such as COVID-19 or influenza, that may be reduced by vaccinations.
If government regulations apply, all eligible customers, employees and visitors are required to be or have received required vaccinations by any date set by the government unless a reasonable accommodation is otherwise approved by any relevant authority or the company. Where a person is not in compliance with this policy, the person will not be granted entry to the premises, event or service. In such circumstances:
for customers, the company’s refund and or credit policy will apply.
for employees, they will be placed on unpaid leave until their employment status is determined.
If a government policy is in effect, the company will not accept a booking for any eligible person that is not fully vaccinated for the infectious diseases or does not commit to such requirement. Where a person makes a booking and is then unable to meet the requirement, the customer shall be barred from the premises, event or service and the company’s cancellation policy shall apply.
At any point the management or staff can request to see proof of vaccination either via official government applications or copies with accompanying ID as per government requirements. Only ID previously been deemed as acceptable by the government can be used as proof of Identification.
If in effect by government policy, all customers, employees and visitors are required to sign in their attendance using either the SafeWA or ServiceWA application or manually before being allowed entry into the museum.
This policy will be updated periodically as required or advised by government bodies. If vaccinations or proof of vaccinations are no longer required as per government directive this policy will not apply.
20) Infectious disease cancellation Policy
If an event is cancelled due to a government sanctioned lockdown, all events are turned into a credit and can be transferred to a new date.
If you need to cancel because the main guests (or a majority- i.e. over 60% of the guests) have to isolate as per government requirement, the deposit is made into a credit and can be used to rebook.
If the event is over 7 days away a refund may be offered, however if it is less than 7 days prior to the event no refund can be given, only credit. This is subject to the venue’s discretion.
If you cancel as a precaution but there is no government order/restriction and you are not isolating our standard cancellation policy applies.
21) Incursions, console hire and workshops outside of The Nostalgia Box
When The Nostalgia Box is requested to attend on site it is understood the area for the incursion/console hire/workshop will be safe and prepared for the staff to run the event
The Nostalgia Box staff will facilitate the incursion/console hire/workshop but is not responsible for the supervision of the children. The hirer is still required to have an appropriate number of staff to supervise the activity for the amount of children in attendance.
The incursions and workshops, while generally safe, do have the potential for harm such as the use of scissors, hot glue, ovens, paint, and allergens. The Nostalgia Box staff will take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of everyone but the hirer accepts these risks and understands that their staff must be on hand to ensure the safety of children.
Numbers must be confirmed for incursions or workshop that require prep and if more children attend than was confirmed The Nostalgia Box cannot guarantee extra kits. By the same token, if items are prepared that cannot be taken back (such as cookies) and there are less than the number given, the centre will be charged at the original number.
When console hire is booked, The Nostalgia Box staff will setup, monitor and supervise the equipment to ensure patrons can play in a safe and fun environment. However it is the client’s responsibility of the patron’s behaviour and any damage to consoles, controllers, monitors/TVs or equipment will be the client’s responsibility.

Nostalgia Box Recording, Photography and Distribution Policy
As stated in the Terms and Conditions (General Entry section 6 / Venue Hire section 17), while being at The Nostalgia Box you consent to images and videos being taken for security, promotional and/or social media purposes of yourself, attendees, your children or of the children for whom you are responsible.
If you do not wish to be recorded you must put in writing that you revoke this consent and it must be done prior to your event booking. This is to ensure any footage, editing, and distribution on such things like social media is not wasted nor made unusable once completed. The Nostalgia Box will not remove material after the fact unless it is at its discretion.
By revoking consent, footage taken may still be used but faces may be blurred or obscured.
It is The Nostalgia Box’s policy to not usually record children at birthday parties, school excursions or holiday clubs. However on the odd occasion for promotional purposes and with the organiser’s permissions we may do so.
Any events run by The Nostalgia Box, that are open to the public, or have the ability to purchase tickets to (either in house or via a third party site) and any events which publicly promotes photography or video taken at their events automatically grant permission for The Nostalgia Box to record for promotional purposes. This also includes events outside of The Nostalgia Box premises which we have been hired for.
Unless discussed prior or the people in question are public figures, no material promoted by The Nostalgia Box will have names, social media handles, or specific reference to the individuals shown.
